OKLAHOMA CITY – Representatives with the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s Medicare Assistance Program (MAP) are available to help senior adults impacted by the recent tornado outbreak. The counselors are available at the Multi-Agency Resource Center at Westmoore High School and by calling 1-800-763-2828 Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“We are committed to helping every Oklahoman affected by tornadoes,” said Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak. “We want to make sure the victims take advantage of every resource at the Oklahoma Insurance Department. We’re here to serve you.”
Along with the loss of property, seniors may have lost important documents such as Medicare cards, medical records, medical bills and other financial records. MAP representatives can help the victims obtain replacement cards and documents and answer questions about their prescription drug plans. They can also help those who suspect they may be a victim of fraud.
“The rebuilding and recovery process is difficult for everyone,” said Ray Walker, MAP Director. “But in many cases, seniors have some added challenges that make the process especially tough. We will do all we can to minimize that and get them back to living the life they deserve.”
The MAP division provides accurate and objective counseling, assistance, and advocacy relating to Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, long-term care and other related health coverage plans for Medicare beneficiaries, their representatives, or persons soon to be eligible for Medicare.
