OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak welcomes Ron Kreiter back to the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) as Deputy General Counsel. Kreiter previously worked at the OID from 1980-1987 as an assistant commissioner and staff attorney. He brings with him more than 40 years of experience in both the regulatory and business sides of insurance.
“Ron has a unique mix of knowledge that fits well with the mission and goals of the Oklahoma Insurance Department,” Commissioner Doak said. “He’s drafted legislation, been an active member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and he’s been an advocate for consumers. Ron will be an asset, and we’re proud to have him.”
Kreiter’s career has included stints at the Oklahoma State Insurance Fund, Kentucky Department of Insurance, Kelco, Inc., AVS Underwriting, LLC and Asset Servicing Group where he held the position of compliance counsel and forensic fraud analyst.
“Of all the jobs I have had, the most enjoyable ones were at the state insurance departments,” Kreiter said. “That is due to the broad range of skills necessary to make the regulatory system work. With the recent increase and severity of natural disasters it is more important than ever to ensure that citizens have the assistance and remedies they deserve.”
Kreiter has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the Ohio State University and a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University. He also spent four years in the United States Air Force.
Kreiter will start with the OID on Nov. 5.
