Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak has issued a citation of congratulations to the Chelsea Fire Department. The citation commends the department for its 100 years of service and dedication to public safety.
The volunteer fire department celebrated its centennial Saturday with an all-city Appreciation Day. Fire Chief Matt Fraley said both current and retired firefighters wanted to thank the citizens of Chelsea for passing a 2008 bond proposal that allowed the department to build a new facility.
“We just really appreciate the citizens of Chelsea. They’ve helped us out tremendously over the years, especially with the building we’ve got. When we proposed the bond in 2008 it passed with 98%. We’ve got 20 great guys in this department and we’ve got a whole lot of retirees that we can also thank for this,” said Chief Fraley.
Deputy Commissioner of Field Operations Randy Brogdon also attended the celebration which included food, games and activities.
