OKLAHOMA CITY– OklahomaInsurance Commissioner John D. Doak announced a Medicare question and answer event to be held in Tulsa Nov. 9-10. Medicare counselors will be on hand from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Reasor’s on 71st and Sheridan to answer questions related to Medicare open enrollment.
“This is a great opportunity to get answers to all your Medicare questions. You can talk face-to-face with counselors from the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s Medicare Assistance Program (MAP),” Doak said. “We urge you to take advantage of this opportunity before making important Medicare decisions.”
Medicare open enrollment began Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7. During the open enrollment period, Medicare-eligible consumers can sign up for coverage and Medicare recipients can elect to change their options for the coming year.
“Oklahomans who consult with MAP counselors before enrolling could save hundreds of dollars on their Medicare plans. That’s why it’s vital for seniors to take advantage of this free event,” Doak said.
Personalized Medicare counseling is also available over the phone. Oklahomans in the Tulsa area can call (918) 664-9000 or(918) 584-7526 for Medicare assistance. Medicare beneficiaries outside the Tulsa area can call (800) 763-2828.
